Arjan Hullegie on the Coevorden excavation: “Once in a lifetime experience.”

Our Dutch team uncovers the remains of the Frisian gate in Coevorden – one of the three medieval city gates of the town – built around 1620 and demolished 250 years later. The research is expected to answer a number of questions about the history of the town.

Although the Friese poort remains seem a pile of stone for the passers-by, archaeologist Arjan Hullegie said that this operation was a once in a lifetime experience.
